Large milkweed bugs accumulate toxic cardiac glycosides from feeding on milkweed and bear orange-and-black markings to warn predators, as do Monarch butterfly larvae and the Small Milkweed Bug and the Milkweed Leaf Beetle and the Red Milkweed Beetle and the Milkweed Tussock Moth larva, all comprising the Monarch Mimicry Complex.
